- The address check validates format and checksum only. It cannot tell whether an address exists, holds funds or belongs to anyone.
- Units: 1 gwei is 10^9 wei and 1 ether is 10^18 wei. This tool does not fetch prices or balances.
Frequently asked questions
Why do on-chain values appear as huge integers?
Ethereum stores amounts as whole numbers of its smallest unit, wei, to avoid fractions. One ether is 10^18 wei.
What does the checksum capital-letter pattern mean?
EIP-55 encodes a checksum in the upper and lower case of the hexadecimal letters. A mixed-case address whose capitals do not match the checksum has probably been mistyped.
Is an all-lowercase address invalid?
No. It is a valid address without a checksum, so typos cannot be detected from its case.
